UNDERSTANDING AND CONTROL OF CORPORATE CARD USE

News provided by: En. Mohd Syairol Azwan bin Shabudin (Financial Officer, Internal Audit Division)

UPM SERDANG, June 14, 2023 - The monthly sharing session by Internal Audit Division this time is related to the use of Corporate Credit Cards. This sharing session was delivered by En. Mohd Faiz Suparman, Finance Officer of UPM Internal Audit. The use of the UPM Corporate Credit Card was implemented in 2005 through the Bursar's Circular No. 1 of 2015. The ease of use of the corporate credit card is intended as a facilitator for expenses related to official duties and courses at home and abroad.

The method of utilisation of the corporate credit card has been improved and expanded through the Bursar's Circular No. 3 Year 2014, which came into force on August 19, 2014. In addition, the Ministry of Finance Malaysia also issued circulars related to Government Corporate Credit cards through Treasury Circular PS 2.6.

The corporate credit card facility used by the Head of Department and the Responsibility Centre (PTJ) is subject to the regulations in force. Users who are given this facility should be aware of the relevant regulations, understand their responsibilities, and practise prudent spending. All expenses must be approved in accordance with the existing regulations.

Any expenses that are out of order and in violation of the established rules will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the principles of integrity of the civil servant. The corporate credit card is a government initiative to reduce spending and to facilitate spending; therefore, it should be used as the best medium of expenditure and not for personal gain.
