SERI KEMBANGAN, May 25 - The Nuclear Diagnostic Imaging Center (PPDN), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has given exposure to the "Vertical" planting method to the community of the JMB Residents' Association of the Kemuning/Kempas Pangsapuri PKNS block, Seri Kembangan.
Director of PPDN, UPM, Prof. Dr. Subapriya a/p Suppiah said the KTGS@PTJ PPDN project which has the cooperation of the Faculty of Agriculture and the University Community Transformation Center (UCTC) which has started in October 2023 aims to encourage local residents to acquire agricultural knowledge that can be used for self-sufficiency.
"This directly allows the community here to be able to save kitchen expenses by growing their own vegetables at home and be able to generate the household economy with vegetable crops," he said.
He added that although PPDN, UPM is not in the field of agriculture, but from the health aspect it can directly educate the community in medical science and the importance of healthy eating practices of vegetables.
"This project also gives us the opportunity to share knowledge with the community to increase vegetables in the diet as well as how organic cultivation benefits health," he said.
"We very much welcome UPM to help the community and this also benefits the residents in activities that benefit and plan in the future to increase the cultivation of vegetables and fruits such as okra and sun melon," he said.
