Serdang, 15 December 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully organised the Planetary Health Integration Workshop over three days, from 12 to 14 December 2025, at the Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM, as a strategic initiative to strengthen the integrated implementation of the University’s sustainability agenda.

The organisation of this workshop is aligned with UPM’s True North aspiration, which emphasises a balanced approach between the advancement of knowledge, sustainability, and the well-being of society and the environment. This initiative serves as a catalyst towards positioning UPM as a university that not only excels in academics and research but is also responsible for the health and future of the planet.

A total of 67 Responsibility Centres (PTJs) across UPM were invited to participate in the workshop, comprising representatives from Faculties, Institutes, Centres, Residential Colleges, as well as student representatives from the Student Representative Council (MPP) and the College Representative Council (MPK). The Internal Audit Division was also represented by three (3) officers, namely the Head of PTJ, Mr Sharul Azman Ramli and two members of the Green Sustainability Committee, Ms Nurrul Syakira Bakhtiar and Ms Balqis Md Ruslan.

The workshop commenced on the first day with participant registration, followed by a welcoming address, a keynote address by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM YBhg. Dato’ Profesor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Bin Mohd Sadullah, and a plenary session that discussed the concept and strategic direction of Planetary Health at the university level. In the afternoon, participants were divided into several groups based on the designated thematic groups to facilitate focused and structured group discussions.

The second day focused entirely on group discussions aimed at identifying the roles, challenges, and proposed initiatives of PTJs in supporting the Planetary Health agenda.

On the third day, the workshop concluded with final group discussions, followed by the presentation of the Planetary SCORE Dashboard, before being formally summarised and closed by the Vice-Chancellor of UPM.

Overall, the Planetary Health Integration Workshop provided a strategic and inclusive platform to align understanding, commitment, and collective actions among the UPM community towards the integrated implementation of the Planetary Health agenda. The outcomes of the discussions and participants’ inputs are expected to form a critical foundation for the development of policies, action plans, and more sustainable monitoring mechanisms.
