UPM Mobilises 200 Officers to Strengthen 2026 Strategy Implementation

SERDANG, 27 April – Nearly 200 academic and professional officers of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) convened at the UPM 2026 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Laboratory Workshop to further refine the university’s mission and strategic direction into high-impact implementation across all levels of the organisation.

Deputy Director (Strategic Management) of the Centre for Strategy and Corporate Relations (PSPK), UPM, Dr Ahmad Salahuddin Mohd Harithuddin, said the workshop served as an important platform to ensure strategic alignment is implemented comprehensively throughout the organisation.

“This workshop brings together PTJ leadership to ensure every unit moves in the same strategic direction, in line with the 2026 Mission Focus and Strategic Aspirations.

“A mission-oriented approach enables performance indicators to be designed with greater impact, not merely as measurement tools, but as drivers of the university’s strategic implementation,” he said.

The workshop involved Heads and Deputy Heads of PTJs, as well as administrative officers, in an effort to ensure coordinated strategy implementation at all levels.

Discussions focused on the framework of the UPM Strategic Plan 2026–2030, which encompasses four key domains, namely food security, sustainability, global recognition, as well as the well-being of the university community and Jiwa Putra values.

The framework is driven by five transformation enablers covering teaching and learning, research and innovation, community engagement, industry networking, as well as funding and income generation.

At the same time, six enabling factors were also emphasised, namely talent development, resource sustainability, data ecosystem, communication and branding, governance, and alumni partnerships, to ensure a more integrated, sustainable, and high-impact implementation of strategies.

The session also incorporated both top-down and bottom-up approaches to ensure alignment between the university’s strategic planning and KPI implementation at the operational level.

The organisation of the workshop reflects UPM’s continuous commitment to ensuring that every level of the organisation moves in tandem with a clear strategic direction.

The outcomes of the workshop are expected to serve as a key foundation for the implementation of the UPM Strategic Plan 2026–2030, with emphasis on delivering tangible impact to the UPM community, students, alumni, industry partners, and society.
