
KUALA LUMPUR, 14 August – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has joined the Huawei Malaysia AI Talent Programme, launched in conjunction with the Huawei Cloud AI Ecosystem Summit APAC 2025, in collaboration with local universities, technology institutions, and the media industry.
Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FSKTM) UPM, Dato’ Prof. Dr. Shamala K. Subramaniam, said the programme introduces an accredited curriculum in cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) aimed at nurturing more highly skilled local talents, thereby accelerating the adoption and application of AI technologies across Malaysia.

“Through this participation, UPM students and researchers will have the opportunity to undergo specialized training, obtain industry certifications, and access the latest Huawei Cloud technologies. This initiative also paves the way for collaborative research and development (R&D) with industry partners, strengthening innovation and the creation of AI-driven solutions.
“UPM’s involvement in this programme reflects the university’s commitment to advancing AI technologies and enhancing strategic collaborations at the regional level, in line with its aspiration to become a leader in digital innovation and produce a highly skilled workforce,” she said.
The official launch of the Huawei Malaysia AI Talent Programme by Huawei Cloud was also witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo.
