UPHOLDING PRESTIGE AND EMBRACING UPM’S TRUE NORTH

UPM SERDANG, 24 January 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has marked another significant milestone with the organization of the UPM Vice-Chancellor’s 2025 Address, themed “Upholding Prestige and Embracing UPM’s True North”. The event, held at the Grand Hall of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS), was attended by the University Board of Directors (LPU), top university leadership, academic and administrative staff, as well as students.

In his speech, UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, emphasized the importance of the university’s continued excellence across various fields, particularly in addressing real-world needs. He also outlined UPM’s 2025 focus areas in its pursuit of Vision 2050 – True North.

Upholding UPM’s Prestige - As a leading research university, UPM remains committed to enhancing global competitiveness by strengthening strategic collaborations with international institutions, promoting a high-quality research culture, and developing a dynamic academic ecosystem.

Embracing UPM’s True North - The True North UPM theme signifies the university’s core direction in achieving its long-term goals, guided by its fundamental values of academic distinction, societal well-being, and holistic excellence. The Vice-Chancellor stressed that every member of UPM must understand and internalize these objectives to ensure that all efforts align with the university’s identity and aspirations.

He also outlined five key strategies that UPM will drive in 2025. With the spirit of Upholding Prestige and Embracing True North UPM, the university continues to lead change, drive innovation and contribute to global well-being.
