Internal audit is an independent function, which provides assurance and objective consulting services to add value and improve the operational level of the organization.

The objective of the Internal Audit Unit is to help an organization achieve its goals through a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and determine the effectiveness of all control and governance processes.

The UPM Internal Audit Division conducted a working visit to the Universiti Malaya Medical Center on 08 December 2022. This visit was also joined by the Finance Division, UPM Teaching Hospital and was led by Mrs. Zainora Abdul Talib, Head of UPM Internal Audit. The working visit involving 20 UPM delegations was welcomed by Puan Roziah Abdullah as the Head of PPUM's Internal Audit Department.

The purpose of this visit is to exchange knowledge and share about the auditing process on the audits that are currently or have been implemented in the respective hospitals as well as risk management.

The UPM delegation was taken to visit the Command Center which is a closed circuit camera (CCTV) control center that monitors the service environment provided to customers which includes safety, staff efficiency, waiting time, customer comfort and also traffic management within the hospital.

The delegation was also given information and sharing by the PPUM Finance Department regarding the control of management and expenditure at the Hospital and also the use of the Total Hospital Information System (THIS) in the collection of revenue at the Universiti Malaya Medical Center.
