News Written By : Mr. Mohd Azis Abdullah, Internal Audit Division UPM

Kuala Lumpur, 13 April 2026 – The Internal Audit Department of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) took a proactive step by participating in the SALIHIN Digital Forum 2026, held at the KLGCC Convention Centre. Guided by the theme “Bridging Ideas, Building Future,” the forum served as a strategic platform to discuss the critical roles of governance, cybersecurity, and digital transformation in shaping today's business landscape.

Governance Transformation in the Digital Era - In the current dynamic business environment, organizations face increasing expectations to strengthen governance, enhance ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting, and ensure cybersecurity resilience. The forum highlighted how technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), can be leveraged to holistically enhance risk oversight, operational efficiency, and organizational resilience.

Strategic Insights for the Audit Function - This participation provided the Internal Audit Department with practical exposure from industry experts regarding the future of governance and regulatory compliance. Key insights from the sessions included:

  1. AI in Governance: Transforming Board & Risk Oversight by Diligent.
  2. Cybersecurity & Regulatory Readiness: Strategies for navigating the Cybersecurity Act by Nexagate.
  3. AI Adoption in Facing Business Challenges: Innovations in handling market dynamics by YASH Technologies.
  4. Driving Sustainable Performance: Integrating asset management and ESG reporting by IBM Malaysia.

This program marks a significant step in the Internal Audit Department’s commitment to bridging the gap between strategy, compliance requirements, and technology enablement. By understanding this rapidly evolving landscape, our team is now better equipped to empower the university’s governance controls, cybersecurity resilience, and digital transformation journey with greater confidence and integrity.
