NARRATIVE VICE CHANCELLOR UPM 2023

Narrative of the Vice-Chancellor 2023 YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman which took place on 15 February 2023 starting at 8.30 am at the Great Hall, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre UPM.
 
During the year a total of 7 ikhtiar (strategy) were outlined to continue to drive the excellence of UPM which is:

IKHTIAR 1: STRENGTHENING CONTRIBUTIONS IN AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY
IKHTIAR 2: ALIGNING RESEARCH AND NETWORKING TOWARDS SOCIAL INNOVATION

IKHTIAR 3: TOWERING THE EMPOWERMENT OF STUDENTS

IKHTIAR 4: STREAMLINING THE GREEN STRATEGY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE
IKHTIAR 5: INTENSIFYING THE DIGITALISATION OF CAMPUS
IKHTIAR 6: EMPOWERING THE GENERATION OF INCOME
IKHTIAR 7: UNITING ALUMNI STRENGTH

Among the Vice-Chancellor's narrative quotes related to UPMKB: Achievement of 2022 : “UPM continues its important role in the development of national food security with the production of commercial products from UPM research such as Paddy UPutra, FS FEED, TROPICARP- Red Mahseer Feed Formulation, and Modification of Starch (Sago Prebiotic)”

Ikhtiar 1 : Strengthening Contributions in Agriculture and Food Security "Many achievements and contributions of UPM have been achieved. The Food Security Ikthiar was also made possible by UPM Bintulu Campus. This can be seen in the paddy transformation project AgriHub@Gedong, Sarawak to increase paddy productivity from 2 tonnes per/hectare to 10 tonnes per hectare i.e. 5 harvest every 2 years using smart land conditioner and agriculture technology. The RM3 Million Fund project is expected to help Sarawak become a food producer with the help of UPM researchers' research. Well done to UPM Bintulu Campus."

Ikthiar 2 : Aligning Research and Networking towards Social Innovation. "UPM needs to play a strong and strong role in the community through social entrepreneurship and social innovation programs. In driving social innovation, it needs to be implemented in the spirit of cohesion for the strengthening of the network between universities in the islands of Borneo UPM Bintulu Campus has taken the initiative to establish a Consortium of Universities – University of Borneo (KUUB) involving the universities of 3 countries in Borneo namely Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei which will be led by UPMKB. A total of 16 public and government-owned universities have been identified to participate in this initiative (KUUB) and the intention of the establishment (KUUB) is one of the collaborative networking efforts that can strengthen the standard of education in the islands of Borneo thus making these three countries the leading higher education destinations in the Asian region".

UPMKB also participated in research exhibitions for the Tok Nan Chair, Agrihub@Gedong and Forestry Hub as well as Sago Prebiotic products from Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini research. May UPMKB continue to Mansang and continue to drive the excellence of UPM for "Memahat Gemilang Membingkas Kelangsungan Al-Falah".
