ALMOST every day and in every speech delivered, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim asserts the commitment and commitment of the unity government to fight and eradicate corruption, corruption and abuse of power. It turns out that Anwar is very serious about this matter and wants to cleanse the community and the country from continuing to be haunted by various problems of integrity, governance and governance that are worrying both in the public sector, corporate and the people.

The irony is that what is troubling, the more reprimanded the problem of corruption becomes, the more recently the Prime Minister himself revealed that the Immigration Department and the National Registration Department are being investigated by the authorities regarding corrupt practices and abuse of power.

So the question arises, how long will this group with a deficit of integrity, greed and selfishness want to eat bribes? Are you still not happy and don't want to repent and go back to the base of the road?

Although disclosure after disclosure was made, the authorities continued to investigate case after case and many were brought to court and sentenced, but the problem of corruption seems to be very difficult to deal with. This corrupt leg seems to be too invulnerable and sticky enough to be restored.

Recently, a former Secretary of the Finance Division of a ministry was sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined RM284.2 million by the session court after being found guilty of 32 charges of corruption and 64 charges of money laundering. Is this kind of heavy punishment still not enough to frighten corruption in this country?

The fact is, apart from strict action from the authorities, we still need to do a lot to prevent and stop the practice of corruption among the people, especially in the context of the responsibility of individuals and also employers.

WHITE COLLAR

Every member of society, especially those who are still wallowing in the world of corruption, need to strive to maintain and improve the value of their own integrity through a high level of awareness. Any individual who is still giving or receiving bribes needs to be aware of the effects and impacts of this white-collar crime on himself, his family and his career.

Be aware, the reward received is not a blessing and will have a big impact on your life and your family. For example, for Muslims, the issue of halal and haram as well as the blessing of sustenance is highly emphasized, not to mention if the bribe money becomes the flesh and blood of the whole family. So, the role of husband, wife, mother and father is very important in giving reminders and awareness to family members to always stay away from corruption.

In addition, corrupt people also need to be aware that colleagues or the surrounding community who know our gestures will definitely look askance and start to distance themselves from us so as not to get involved. The situation will be worse if caught for humiliating yourself and your family thus destroying your career and even your future as a whole. Which employer wants to employ us if they know the background of this kind of despicable attitude and behavior.

Imagine how embarrassed the husband or wife, children and other family members would be if we were caught for giving or accepting bribes? Imagine how the family members would feel if they knew that all the expenses incurred during this time, especially the cost of eating and drinking, were the result of bribe money?

So, each one of us needs to improve the element of integrity and self-identity to be able to resist the temptation of various rewards offered or that encourage us to abuse power. Remember, the position, position and power given is a trust and responsibility must always be taken care of and preserved.

Never mortgage your principles and self-respect just because bribes and wealth are temporary. It's not worth it when compared to the consequences that will come when our gestures are sniffed by the authorities. So, for those who have not yet converted, hurry to do so before it is too late.

MACC

In addition, employers also need to further increase initiatives to strengthen governance and governance practices in their respective organizations thus closing all the spaces and opportunities available for members of the organization to be involved in corruption and abuse of power. After all, every organization needs to create an ecosystem and work culture of integrity and anti-corruption.

The responsibility of this employer is seen as very significant because recently, the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Tan Sri Azam Baki revealed that there are cases where individuals who have stated the Corruption Free Pledge (IBR) but break their promise and are arrested due to that act. This shows the promise of individuals and organizations to prevent corruption only in the mouth and not to the heart.

IBR is an initiative introduced by the MACR that emphasizes pledges and promises made by the leadership of the organization and its citizens voluntarily in their capacity as individuals to ensure that each
