The Wellness Begins At Home 2023 Survey by Gardenia KL recently found that, 32.4 percent of respondents aged between 26 and 30 years tend to feel stressed seeing friends' posts related to life compared to respondents from other age groups (23 percent ).
The data shows a worrying trend regarding the mental health of social media users in this country.
General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations of Gardenia Bakeries KL, Hazlinah Harun said, she believes that mental health discussions should involve all age groups, from the young to the elderly.
"This is the driving factor behind our Wellness Starts at Home initiative, which focuses on the well-being of the family unit and every person in the home.
"The results of the survey clearly show the need to increase awareness and openness to discuss the causes of mental stress and healthier ways to deal with the challenges," he said.
According to the survey, respondents experiencing financial problems usually avoid surfing social media in the hope of reducing the sadness of their situation.
The data is in line with the results of the 2019 Modern Wealth survey by Schwab reported in an article on CNBC.
The survey found that 49 percent of millennials claimed social media had an impact on spending on expensive activities.
