THE TRANSFORMATION PROCESS carried out by the Public Service Department (JPA) as the central agency responsible for regulating the entire public service is seen to be able to strengthen the significant contribution and role of civil servants towards national development and the well-being of the people.

As the backbone of the public service, anything done by JPA quickly attracts public attention such as the emphasis JPA is placing on three cores as a reform effort, namely digitization of services, integrity and the application of collaborative thinking between the ministry and the private sector.

It is clear that JPA is committed to ensuring that the public service remains relevant, in addition to raising the image of the contribution of civil servants in developing the country and improving the lives of the people.

What is important now, the extent to which civil servants are able to appreciate and accept, thus implementing all reform efforts highlighted? It should be remembered, as the main driver in the public service ecosystem, only public servants can determine whether the reform mission is successful or not.

In this regard, civil servants are expected to be able to accept the renewal of some of the demands of current needs, especially in preserving the continuity of public services at the stage of the transition phase to endemic and the fully endemic phase later.

In order to succeed in those three main thrusts, civil servants need to have an attitude of openness, be ready to change in terms of thinking and working methods, be willing to learn new skills while continuing to strengthen the value of integrity. The fact is that only those who are tenacious, strong and resilient are able to face new challenges in public service in the post-pandemic era.

The empowerment of digitization elements, especially the use of technology in various services during the pandemic over the past two years proves that we are in a very complex era, thus needing to adapt more quickly to technological developments.

In fact, the rapid development of technology also demands that we immediately improve our skills so that we don't fall behind, thus being able to provide smoother and more efficient services to the people.

In this regard, civil servants should not be passive or say no to initiatives to digitize public services, but instead need to be the machinery and important components of moving this reform effort.

Therefore, the digitization of public services through the MyDigital plan initiative needs to be fully supported and succeeded.

In addition, integrity needs to continue to be raised as a practice and culture of public service work to give full confidence to members of the community.

Although corruption, corruption and abuse of power occur in all sectors and all levels of society, corruption among civil servants still steals the public's attention. This is because it involves people's money and public interest which can have a negative impact on people's lives and the national development process.

It is high time we put an end to the integrity issue that has gripped and affected the good name and reputation of the public service for so long. Once again only civil servants can change this situation and correct the negative perception of community members.

It is hoped that the provision of more services through digitization will reduce face-to-face meetings able to eliminate any space or opportunity for abuse of power and corrupt practices.

However, efforts to prevent corruption cannot be placed solely on the shoulders of civil servants, but instead require the commitment of the entire community. In short, do not give or offer any form of bribery to public servants to satisfy personal interests because it will destroy the entire value system and integrity in an agency.

Transformation and reform efforts are being actively implemented to put JPA on the right track to strengthen the role of civil servants and continue to drive excellence in public service based on high integrity values.

Now it is up to civil servants to respond to this effort, thereby proving their commitment and ability to stakeholders.
