MEASURES TO DEAL WITH THE INCREASE IN GLOBAL OIL PRICES

Government employees can reduce the burden of rising global oil prices by carpooling, using public transport, applying for work from home (BDR) if allowed, taking advantage of the MyRailLife pass or the RapidKL unlimited travel pass, and applying for BUDI Cash Assistance if eligible.

Here is a more detailed and targeted action plan for civil servants:

  1. Daily Travel Management
  • Carpooling: Commute to the office with colleagues who live nearby to share petrol and toll costs.
  • Public Transport: Use rail facilities (LRT, MRT, KTM) or buses. For Klang Valley residents, use unlimited travel passes such as the My50 RapidKL for significant monthly cost savings.
  • Use of Work From Home (BDR) Facilities: Take advantage of the BDR policy or flexible working hours set by the department to reduce the frequency of commuting to the office and fuel costs.
  1. Government Assistance and Subsidies
  • BUDI MADANI Subsidy Programme: Ensure eligibility is checked and apply for targeted diesel or petrol assistance through the Ministry of Finance’s Benefits platform.
  • Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR): Use this additional government cash assistance to cover the overall increased cost of living. Checks can be made via the official Rahmah Cash Contribution portal.
  1. Personal Financial Management
  • Buy Essential Goods at the Rahmah Program: Plan your spending by buying kitchen items at the MADANI Rahmah Sale program which offers savings of up to \(30\%\) cheaper than market prices.
  • Salary Increase Record Check: Take advantage of the new improved salary structure and special financial assistance to offset the current inflation rate.
  • Price Monitoring: Civil servants should be the eyes and ears of the government by reporting any profiteering activities or unreasonable price increases to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living via the KPDN e-Complaint Portal.
