APPLICATION SYSTEM ENGINEERING: TECHNIQUES AND IMPLEMENTATION
Application system development is one of the fields in ICT technology that produces application systems to provide online or digital services to users. The success of application system development depends on the extent to which the efficiency of the implementation of the activities in the system development methodology.
The Malaysian Administrative Modernization and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) has developed a public sector application system engineering framework through the Public Sector Application System Engineering Handbook (KRISA) taking into account the best practices of techniques and methods used in implementing application system development activities by focusing to how to perform those activities and what deliveries need to be produced at each phase of the system development lifecycle.
The KRISA methodology covers 6 main phases that need to be understood, adopted and implemented. Each phase describes activities, techniques and approaches, as well as submission documentation such as the following framework:-
Several key considerations need to be taken into account to ensure the successful implementation of application system development projects, while ensuring that the application system developed is of quality and meets the needs of users. The considerations are ICT Project Management Governance, Stakeholder Involvement, Amendment Control Management, Software Quality Assurance (SQA), ICT Security Factors and Importance of System Size Measurement.
